Deepika was born in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, on January 05, 1986 to Konkani-speaking parents, Prakash Padukone and Ujjala Padukone. They moved to Bangalore, India when she was just eleven months old. Deepika used to play badminton at the state level when she was in high school, but sports was not really her passion. Deepika Padukone was eventually enrolled in the Indra Gandhi National Open University for a degree in Bachelors of Art in sociology, but she quit it to start her career in modeling. She did commercials for a soap called Liril and also modeled for a variety of brands earlier in her career.
